How do I grant access to someone to use Patronum?

All Google Workspace Super Admins automatically have full access to Patronum—no additional setup required. If you need to grant access to colleagues who aren't super admins, you can create custom roles within Patronum with specific permissions.

Granting access to super admins

Any user with Google Workspace Super Admin privileges can access Patronum immediately. Simply ensure they're designated as a Super Admin in your Google Admin Console.

Role changes in Google Workspace can take up to one hour to sync with Patronum due to background caching. If a newly promoted super admin can't access Patronum, ask them to log out and log back in after waiting an hour.

Granting delegated access to non-super-admins

For colleagues who need access without full super admin privileges, create a custom Patronum role:

  1. In Patronum, select Roles from the menu.
  2. Click the (+) icon to create a new role.
  3. Give the role a name and optional description.
  4. Add the users who should inherit this role.
  5. Select PRIVILEGES, then expand Admin Custom privileges.
  6. Choose the specific privileges you want to grant (e.g., email signature management, Drive access).
  7. Save the role.

Users will need to log out and log back in to see their new permissions. For detailed steps on creating restricted roles, see How to create administrative roles within Patronum.

Common delegated roles include email signature managers for marketing teams and Drive access managers for helpdesk staff.
