When will my policy run?

Policies in Patronum run every hour by default. Your policy will execute during the next hourly cycle after you set it to Active—it won't run immediately upon creation.

Before your policy will run: You must set the policy status to Active. Newly created policies remain inactive until you explicitly activate them.

Default hourly execution

Once active, Patronum checks and executes your policy every hour. The exact timing depends on when the hourly cycle runs, so there may be up to a 60-minute delay after activation before the first execution.

Need a policy to run sooner? Disable and then re-enable it. This prioritises the policy to run as soon as possible within the current schedule.

Custom scheduling

You can change the execution frequency in the policy's Actions section. Available options include:

  • Daily – Runs once per day at a scheduled time
  • Weekly – Runs on specific days (e.g., "Every Weekday")
  • Monthly – Runs at regular monthly intervals

Setting a custom schedule overrides the default hourly behavior. The policy will only execute according to your specified frequency.

Policies affecting more than 80% of your users require approval before execution. You'll receive a notification to review and approve these high-impact policies.
