Viewing policy execution logs in Patronum

Overview

Policy execution logs show you when your policies ran, their status (success or failure), and details for each action. You can access these logs directly from your Patronum dashboard to monitor policy activity and troubleshoot issues.

Accessing policy execution logs

Follow these steps to view your policy execution history:

Log in to app.patronum.io with your Google Workspace account
From within the Patronum interface, click the bell icon (🔔) in the top-right corner of the navigation bar
Select SEE ALL ACTIVITIES to view policy execution history
Review policy runs, including timestamps, status indicators, and action details

The bell icon displays real-time updates for policy executions. Each policy run shows individual actions with success or failure status.

Log Filters - Patronum

Using filters to find specific logs

To quickly locate policy executions for compliance verification or troubleshooting, use the available filter options:

Date range: Filter logs by specific time periods to review recent activity or historical runs
Event Name: Search for executions of a specific policy or event to isolate its run history
Actor Name: Filter based on the account that executed a specific action.

For compliance teams needing quick verification, filter by policy name and date range to isolate high-priority policy runs without scrolling through all activity.

Understanding log details

Each policy execution entry shows:

Event Name: Details the action performed
Event Description: Details of the action performed.
Admin: The account executing the action, either the System or a specific logged in account.
Date: Timestamp of the action recorded in UTC.
IP Address: Location of the Admin performing the specific task.

Limited historical depth

Activity logs show recent policy runs. For deeper audit trails, export logs to Google BigQuery or check Google Admin Audit Logs for a comprehensive history.

Patronum logs provide immediate visibility into policy execution. For compliance reporting, combine Patronum logs with Google Admin Audit Logs for a complete audit trail.
